Nintendo confirm: 3 New colours for DSi console in UK

While we’re still waiting for the DSi to be released in Britain, over in Japan, Nintendo have announced 3 new colours to the Japanese line up. The Nintendo DSi will shortly be available in Pink, Metallic Blue and lime green. While we’re not sure about the greener DSi, we think its great that Nintendo are already releasing the new hand-held wonder in more than one colour.

The big question is will we get these new colours in the UK? Well we think that there’s a good chance as the UK is already getting the same release versions as Japan - in standard White and Black. These new colours are sure to be a big hit with more casual gamers too and so it’s going to be interesting to see what versions are released in Europe during 2009.

Since Friday’s shock dsi news we have had hundreds of visitors searching our site so thought we would take a moment to round up the Nintendo DSi pre ordering information and look in more detail.

The DSi will go on sale on April 3rd 2009 and there are already several high street on line retailers where you can now pre order the Nintendo DSi console ahead of its release:

You can now pre order the Nintendo DSi console from Amazon for £149.99 with free delivery options. Amazon still have stock of the Black DSi and White DSi. Amazon normally have the most stock in the UK and so if your worried about missing our on launch date then you may wish to go here first.

You can now pre order the Nintendo DSi console from Amazon for £149.99 with free delivery options. Argos have limited units of the Black DSi which is currently still available but could sell out first. GameStation pre-orders now live for DSi

Matte Blue Nintendo DSi console version reviewed with best price

The biggest surprise from Nintendo about the DSi console release information was not the date, but that the colours available will be different than in Japan.

In Asia, the DSi console was released in White and Black, yet in the Americas, the DSi console will be released in Matte Blue and Matt Black.

This is an interesting colour and so we thought we’d take a deeper look at the Blue version of the DSi. Now when we say Blue, we don’t mean a dark or sea Blue. As you can see from these images, the colour is just a tad shade darker than the DS lite’s cobalt blue version.
We like the Blue, its bold yet interesting and means the DSi console will stand out against its predecessor. If your a girl and like the more traditional white or pink versions then you may need to wait a little bit longer.

So is this Matte Blue an exclusive to the USA? Were not sure and it makes us wonder what colours we will get when the DSi console goes on sale in the UK and Europe later this Spring. Nintendo certainly did not want to talk about the UK launch today so we can only hope to hear something again soon.

The Matte Blue DSi console also comes with a matching Stylus. An advantage that this bold colour stylus pen has over its rivals is the ability to be spotted when hiding down the back of the Sofa. The DSi console in Matt Blue is also selling fast on Amazon where you can pre-order the console now for $169.99 - which is the best price we have been able to find in the USA at this moment.

It’s finally here - well for our US friends that is. Nintendo today announced that the Nintendo DSi console will go on sale in America on Saturday April 5th 2009, with many US retailers opening their doors at Midnight on Friday 4th April.

The DSi console will go on sale in the USA for the price of $169.99 with Free Delivery. 99.9% of Orders that are placed on Amazon will be delivered on launch date. There will be several new games available at launch along with DSi bundles and packages.

The only disappointing news for us UK gamers is the news that Nintendo did not confirm any UK or European release date. This is hugely disappointing as we had hoped that the DSi would be released in the UK before America. However, we continue to push Nintendo for a release date and hope to have some more news soon.

Nintendo DSi console still Japan’s best selling console for February

Ok, so were only into Week One of February but Nintendo’s DSi console is still the best selling console in Japan. Launched in November in the land of the red sea, the DSi console has already sold close to 1.5 Million units. For the week ending Feb 1st, Nintendo sold 55,613 copies of their new baby. The predecessor, the DS Lite also performed well for Nintendo selling 15,147 units putting total sales at over 70 thousand DS machines sold.

In other news this week, Nintendo chief Satoru Iwota also confirmed this week that he believed the DSi would go on sale in Europe and the USA during Spring/Summer of this year. Unfortunately he also confirmed that the DSi would have to be more expensive than the DS lite. He said “there will have to be a difference in price. With this price difference, I think that the DS Lite and DSi will be sold side by side in the Americas and in Europe”.

So while we begin saving and putting our worthy possessions on eBay, the good news seems that the DSi console will definitely be on sale within the next 3-4 months. As always, we will bring you news as soon as we get it and we hope our next story may be a final confirmation of when the DSi console will be going on sale in the UK.
